Researching and reporting on feminism, cultural identity and social justice issues impacting Borikén, I write on matters such as femicides, the impacts of colonization, displacement, and gentrification. My work is conducted via interviews with subject matter experts, cultural advocates, and artists.
As someone who left the U.S. (after 53 years) to return to her ancestral motherland of Borikén, I am also interested in delving into the conflicted emotions of what I call 'dual identity syndrome.'
The goal of my work is always to highlight the beauty of our Afro Boricua and Indigenous heritages.
As a spoken word poet, my verses are nearly always protest in nature. I incorporate themes of sexual abuse, childhood trauma and the intersectionality of language and identity.
