Job Description

WBAL-TV, the NBC affiliate in Baltimore, Maryland, is looking for a well-rounded Digital Content Editor who will create content for our station's website, mobile products and social media platforms. You will be an excellent storyteller and can edit and create content facing intense competition under constant deadline pressure. You will report to the Digital Content Manager. The salary range for this position is $42,000 - $46,000. 

Responsibilities

  • Write/edit and publish breaking news, daily news, sports, weather, and feature stories for the station's website, mobile and social media platforms
  • Write compelling, SEO-rich headlines
  • Work with Reporters and Assignment Editors to ensure content is posted quickly and accurately
  • Work with Producers, Assignment Editors and Managers to ensure cross-promotion of content across all platforms
  • Manage livestreams of newscasts, breaking news and special events
  • Contribute ideas to help grow the station's digital platforms
  • Take part in coverage of special station events (i.e. Preakness, Baltimore Marathon)

Requirements

  • Previous digital editing and writing experience

  • Professional experience with non-linear video-editing software (Adobe Premiere or equivalent)

  • Demonstrated sound news and editorial judgment
  • Adherence to AP Style writing skills
  • Basic knowledge of Photoshop and photo editing
  • Experience with social media best practices
  • Flexibility to work different shifts, holidays on short notice to cover a 24-hour news cycle
  • Work well in an environment with frequent interruptions while paying close attention to details
  • Proficiency in Photoshop, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and other programming languages
  • Related military experience will be considered
