Job Summary/Description:

You’ll partner closely with a General Manager who came up through the News Director ranks- someone who speaks “news”, backs strong journalism, and believes in coaching, collaboration, and winning the right way.

Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

• Set and uphold market-leading standards for daily newsgathering, content quality, and multiplatform execution.
• Make fast, accurate journalistic and logistical decisions- especially when news is breaking.
• Hire, coach, supervise, and evaluate a diverse, high-performing team of journalists and newsroom leaders.
• Champion enterprise reporting and public-service journalism that reflects and serves our community.
• Collaborate across departments (Sales, Creative, Engineering, Digital) to achieve company performance goals.
• Prepare and manage newsroom budgets and capital requests; prioritize resources for maximum impact.
• Foster a positive, creative, accountable culture that grows people, ratings, and trust.

Job Requirements

Qualifications/Requirements:

• A minimum of 4 years of television news management experience (preferred).
• A college degree in broadcast journalism (preferred).
• Deep knowledge of community issues and sound, ethical journalistic principles.
• Proven ability to make clear, fast, and accurate decisions under pressure.
• A coaching mindset: you love developing people and building future leaders.
