Job Description

Job Description, Program Director

Radio Kingston en Español

Radio Kingston en Español will serve as the digital sister station of WKNY Radio Kingston, offering a vibrant, cultural, and informative platform for thousands of listeners in Kingston and the surrounding areas. Since 2018, Radio Kingston has amplified the many voices of the community, dedicating part of its airtime to Spanish-language programming with popular shows like La Voz con Mariel Fiori (M–F, 10–11 a.m.) and Mochilero con Antonio Flores-Lobos (M–F, 11 a.m.–noon), among others. After nearly seven years of audience growth through cultural events and community engagement, all six current Spanish-language shows will transition to the new digital platform (which includes a website, mobile app, Facebook, and YouTube channels), creating a cohesive and comprehensive experience for our listeners. The platform will also provide opportunities to expand existing shows and introduce new hosts and programming that align with Radio Kingston’s mission of serving and reflecting the community.

Radio Kingston en español will continue to inform, inspire, and connect our Spanish-speaking communities through accessible, inclusive, and culturally-rooted programming. Radio Kingston en español will uplift community voices and stories that reflect the realities, dreams, and strengths of our diverse Latinx and Hispanic neighbors. Radio Kingston en español is committed to language justice and envisions a local media space where Spanish-speaking residents feel seen, heard, and empowered to share their truths, access essential information, and celebrate their cultures.

Are you a communicator with editorial experience? Are you passionate about journalism and issues affecting the Hispanic and Latinx immigrant local communities? Do you live in Kingston, the surrounding area, or would you be willing to move to this beautiful rural and urban enclave? Then, you should be part of this because Radio Kingston en Español is more than a digital platform, it’s a community movement rooted in culture, creativity, and connection. Here, you’ll help shape a platform, created by and for the community, that amplifies Hispanic and Latinx voices, tells our stories with authenticity, and strengthens a sense of belonging for Spanish-speaking residents in Kingston.
