Job summary

Apple News provides millions of users with trusted news from leading news organizations around the globe. Editors at Apple News highlight the best and most engaging journalism on our platform for our large national audience. In this role, you will be responsible for curating news about U.S. politics, with a focus on the 2026 midterm elections. You will curate articles, write headlines and push notifications, and communicate directly with our publishing partners. This is a contractor position for $60/hour and 40 hours/week. Preferred location is New York. Applications will be accepted through Nov. 14, 2025. 

Description

  • Select articles for daily featuring across the app and off-platform with an emphasis on quality, accuracy, and engagement.
  • Write sharp copy with the Apple News audience in mind. Work with our copy editors to ensure our work meets all aspects of our house style.
  • Act as a resource for the larger Apple News team, providing guidance and information about U.S. politics and especially the 2026 elections.
  • Help project-manage Apple News’s political and midterm coverage, including for Election Day.
  • Maintain detailed knowledge of the latest politics news and events, particularly around the 2026 elections.
  • Surface bugs and other performance issues.

Job Requirements

Qualifications

  • You have experience reporting and/or editing journalism about U.S. politics and elections.
  • You have extensive knowledge of U.S. political and electoral history.
  • You have strong editorial judgment and excellent headline-writing skills.
  • You know how to cover breaking news in an impartial, nonpartisan manner, and write clear, engaging push notifications.
  • You are a team player and incorporate feedback seamlessly into your work.
  • You have the flexibility to work nights and weekends on occasion.
