Are you interested in TV news, storytelling, or building your media skills? MCM is looking for a multimedia journalist to join our team. This is a hands-on opportunity for an enterprising reporter with 1-2 years of newsroom experience and an entrepreneurial spirit.
This role will be focused on reporting about current events and issues affecting multicultural communities within Montgomery County. The MMJ will be expected to research, write, report, and produce news and feature stories primarily for MCM’s TV programming, with supporting content for digital and social media.
What You’ll Do & Learn
Pitch story ideas in our daily newsroom meetings for TV, the web and social media
Research stories and fact check information
Write news scripts for packages, VOSOTs, VOs and Readers
Produce field reports and reporter look lives
Collaborate with production team and editors on editing and visual storytelling processes
Cover local events, government briefings, and community stories with guidance
Collaborate with social media team on news promotions
Other duties as assigned

Who Should Apply
We’re looking for multimedia journalists with 1-2 years of TV newsroom experience and an interest in covering current events and local issues impacting multicultural communities in Montgomery County, Maryland’s most diverse county. You are a good fit for this role if you are:
A skilled journalist and storyteller with 1-2 years of experience working in a TV newsroom or campus TV station.
Curious, motivated, and interested in storytelling.
Strong writer, speaker, and communicator.
Creative with multimedia storytelling.
Interested in local news and/or public affairs.
A graduate of a four-year university journalism or media school, or have the equivalent professional experience.
Familiar with Montgomery County, Maryland.
Preferred, but not required: Bilingual in Spanish, French or Mandarin.
