The CEJ was established in 1992 at the University of Colorado Boulder to enrich public understanding of environmental issues by elevating the quality, range, and depth of coverage by journalists. The center does this by helping seasoned and emerging journalists enhance their knowledge of the scientific, economic, political, and social aspects of these issues.

The College of Media, Communication and Information, established in 2015, is the first new college on the CU-Boulder campus in 53 years. CMCI prides itself on offering students an interdisciplinary education with a focus on innovation and creativity. 

CU Boulder is a research university with about 25,000 undergraduates and 6,000 graduate students. Located at the base of the Rocky Mountains, yet only 27 miles from Denver, Boulder is often named one of the most desirable places in America to live.
