The South Bend Tribune, part of the Gannett/USA Today Network, seeks a dynamic, digitally inclined high school sports journalist to take command of our northern Indiana and southwest Michigan preps coverage.
This reporter will help us redefine how we cover high school sports and tell the stories of our local student-athletes. We’re looking for someone to produce high-impact journalism that goes beyond traditional game coverage, hitting at the how, the why and the who. This beat will emphasize issues, news, trending stories, live coverage, championship moments, recruiting, players off the field and more.
The ideal candidate will be an accurate writer and vivid storyteller. They will develop relationships and earn trust. They will be particularly savvy on social media and build their personal brand as a go-to voice in high school sports for our market. This candidate will also be expected to regularly contribute to statewide and even national projects as part of the Gannett/USA Today Network.
