Job Description:

The KMBC 9 / KCWE 29 Internship Program is a paid, rigorous and highly competitive hands-on experience that provides individuals the opportunity to learn about the operations of a broadcast television station. As a news intern, you are part of the team that is “Kansas City’s News Leader”.  For every person you see on camera, there are many more with exciting responsibilities in the KMBC 9 Newsroom.  You’ll gain experience writing, editing, producing, and reporting the news. The veteran journalists leading the way at KMBC 9 News will give interns a chance to try their hand in the following aspects of the news operation.

You will also have the chance to participate in a KMBC “Intern newscast”. Whether you want to produce, anchor, report or forecast, the “Intern newscast” is your chance to work with other interns to create a newscast you can use to build your demo-reel.

 

Your first day at the station is set aside for orientation which Must be attended.  Plan to work three days a week, eight hours each shift with varying schedules. During your internship you should always check in with your assigned advisor upon entering the building. 

 

Securing housing and transportation during the internship are the responsibility of the intern.  KMBC 9 / KCWE 29 cannot offer support in this area.
