Internship Summary
OPB is committed to creating career pathways for traditionally underrepresented individuals in public media organizations. Jon R. Tuttle was one of Oregon’s most respected broadcast journalists, who passed away in 1991. In honor of his memory, OPB established the Jon R. Tuttle Journalism & Production Internship in 1994 to encourage the participation of people with diverse backgrounds who are traditionally underrepresented within public broadcasting. The internship will enable an outstanding student who is studying in the field to spend 10-weeks, full-time in a learning, hands-on environment.

What You’ll Do
This is a production focused internship. The intern gains hands-on experience learning video journalism by engaging in research, pre-production, field production and post-production activities with OPB’s Science & Environment team. This includes working for our flagship outdoor/environmental program, “Oregon Field Guide”. The intern assists staff producers in all aspects of video production and social media, however, opportunities exist to create original content for either broadcast or online media, including video and web features.

Working Conditions
Work will take place in both office and outside/field locations. Intern must be willing to travel within the Northwest. Interns must be willing to hike and to carry up to 30 pounds of production and personal gear for up to several miles in natural outdoor conditions, often in the backcountry, and in all weather.
