Salary range: $75,000-$80,000 with benefits, depending on experience

Public Health Watch, a nonprofit investigative news organization, is seeking an experienced,

Antonio and the surrounding area. This position is funded by a two-year grant whose renewal is
possible but not assured.
We are seeking someone with at least five years of experience in accountability journalism,
preferably at the local and/or state levels. They must be self-motivated, a relentless reporter
and a polished writer. They must collaborate well with the Public Health Watch team and our
media partners, including Spanish-language broadcast and digital outlets. Data journalism skills
are a plus but not a requirement.

Job Requirements:

Job duties:
 Research and write in-depth digital stories and short follow-ups that highlight regulatory
failures, inadequate resources and other deficiencies associated with the diagnosis and
treatment of mental health conditions
 Work, as needed, with both English-language and Spanish-language broadcast outlets to
produce radio and TV segments
 Write stories about solutions when applicable
 Participate in occasional community meetings to discuss topics of public interest
Our aim at Public Health Watch is to produce compelling journalism that triggers positive
reform. If this seems like a fit, please send a resume, three references and links to your best
work to Executive Director Jim Morris at jmorris@publichealthwatch.org, with “San Antonio
job” in the subject line.
