Job Description

Position summary
The assistant director of student media will assist the director with all planning and execution of the student media program. This position will oversee day-to-day operations as assigned, train and mentor student journalists and represent the Office of Student Media to internal and external stakeholders. Proposed Salary
$45,200 - $55,300 based on experience.

Responsibilities

  • Advise and mentor student staff members in all student-led divisions in the Office of Student Media
  • Manage budgets as assigned
  • Perform basic and advanced administrative duties, including processing student employment and payroll records, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and purchasing
  • Work cooperatively with students, vendors, faculty, and other staff
  • Assist the Director of Student Media in all aspects of strategic planning, execution of initiatives, promotion of student access, and relationships with stakeholders
  • Organize, coordinate and execute special projects and or/day-to-day operations
  • Assist in program planning and development
  • Establish and maintain positive working relationships with internal and external groups

Job Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • ​Three (3) or more years of related work experience, which may include undergraduate work in college media outlets or other journalistic settings.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a college media outlet as a student or adviser, particularly in leading and motivating student journalists.
  • ​Experience in journalism focused on community engagement.
