Want to cover America’s most interesting city for one of the nation's best metro newspapers? The Times-Picayune is seeking an ambitious reporter to cover K-12 education in New Orleans. We’re looking for a veteran journalist who can produce daily stories – both for online and print -- as well as thoughtful, deeply-researched enterprise coverage of the city’s public school system, the first in the nation to consist solely of charter schools. The job also includes occasional coverage of area universities and topics of interest for children and families. The ideal candidate would produce lively, informative stories that spell out the system’s successes and failures in ways that parents and the community can easily understand. Strong reporting skills are a must, as is a distinctive writing voice. We’re in a competitive market, so breaking and owning stories is very important to us – and must also be important to you.
