Deputy Food Editor

Job Description

We are seeking an editor to join our award-winning food team to help grow Let’s Eat, Philly, our growing brand of community-driven coverage of the Philadelphia dining scene, the restaurant industry, home cooking and food culture.

This editor will work with the Assistant Managing Editor/ Food to edit and develop food- and drink-related content by staff and freelance contributors. The ideal candidate will be able to shift from mobile to newsletters and print products, and other platforms with ease. They should contribute enterprise and home-cooking content, and will be comfortable hosting and participating in live and virtual events.
 

Editing assignments can include, but may not be limited to recipes, round-ups 

and listicles, enterprise features and projects. The assistant food editor should be a self-starter who can generate story ideas, and a strong collaborator who can build relationships with staff and contributors.

Job Requirements

• Guides and edits a diverse group of freelancers from pitch to production in alignment with the editorial calendar. 

• Assists in the development and editing of major projects, including dining guides.
  Writes enterprise content, such as profiles, reported features and cultural analysis for all platforms.  

• Assists in the development and editing of major projects, such as dining guides and special sections. 

• Participates in Inquirer-branded events, including festivals, book signings (when it is safe to do so in person.)
