The Palm Beach Post in West Palm Beach, Fla., is looking for top reporting candidates for summer 2020 paid internships.
If you’re dedicated to a career in news gathering and want a place to show what you can do, this is the internship for you. From Day 2, our interns carry the workload of full-time reporters, juggling daily news, crime stories, features, and even longer, in-depth stories.
With more people than 10 states, Palm Beach County is a huge, diverse place that never runs out of material, even with President Trump away from Mar-A-Lago. The Post covers crime and community news with zeal, and it drives more national stories than most papers its size. Interns often must jump into the big story -- and sometimes even take the lead on it.
Interns must have a proven interest in journalism and at least two years of college. It helps if you can sort a spreadsheet, shoot a photo or edit a video, but what matters most is your willingness to chase and land the story. If you're interested, send us a diverse portfolio of clips. Show us you can research an in-depth story, but also cover the stuffing out of a live event and handle a quirky feature; you could write any of those while you're here. Also, send us a concise cover letter, a current resume, references who can speak to your work -- and your Twitter handle.
