The Consumer Advice team at U.S. News & World Report is seeking an experienced Editor based in our Washington, D.C., office.
This full-time Editor will be responsible for editing consumer-focused online articles, slideshows, blog posts and interactive content on a range of topics, including personal finance, retirement, real estate, careers, health and education. The role includes working with on-staff editors, reporters and digital producers, as well as editing and coordinating with freelance writers and using a variety of tools to make sure pieces are optimized for SEO.
The ideal candidate will have top-notch online editing skills, including both copy editing and content editing, and be well-versed on a range of consumer topics.
At least 3 years of experience editing for an online publication or equivalent.
Interest in and in-depth knowledge of our core areas of coverage, including personal finance, retirement, investing, health and education.
Ability to multitask and meet deadlines while balancing multiple daily editing assignments, providing feedback on story ideas, optimizing stories for SEO and working on long-term projects.
Exceptional communication and organizational skills.
Knowledge of SEO best practices and online analytics.
Expertise using AP style.
Experience developing and maintaining relationships with freelancers.
Interest in U.S. News' rankings projects, such as Best Colleges, Best Hospitals and Best Jobs.
Familiarity with content management systems.
College degree or equivalent.
