Job Description

Tenure-Track Position
Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute
New York University Arts and Science

The Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute at New York University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. The Institute seeks an accomplished, innovative journalist with an excellent record of publication. Teaching experience is desirable; our faculty teaches both undergraduates and graduate students. The position involves directing our interdisciplinary graduate program in Global Reporting, in which students receive a joint M.A. degree in Journalism and a companion department, focusing on a specific field of area studies or international relations. The Institute is particularly interested in candidates with a strong record of international reporting and global experience. An advanced degree is helpful, but not required. Management or administrative experience is a plus. The Institute has particular interest in candidates with substantive, significantly researched book-length or documentary projects in development.

The position start date is September 1, 2020 (pending administrative and budgetary approval). Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled. For best consideration, materials should be submitted by no later than January 6, 2020.

Please apply online with a cover letter to the search committee that describes your research and teaching interests, a resume or curriculum vitae, a statement on your approach to diversity and inclusion, and three samples of your work. Diversity is an important part of the NYU mission and we ask that you address how diversity and inclusion factor into past and present teaching, research, and/or community engagement, as well as how you would bring issues of diversity to bear on teaching and programming at NYU.

Please apply online here: https://apply.interfolio.com/69342. For questions regarding the application, contact Andrea Rosenberg at ar126@nyu.edu.

The Faculty of Arts and Science at NYU is at the heart of a leading research university that spans the globe.
