The New Republic is looking for an experienced full-time copy editor in our New York office. The job will entail copy editing NewRepublic.com, as well as our business and branded materials.
The ideal candidate will edit several articles a day, while keeping an eye on our social-media content. A quick but careful editor with a sharp eye for detail, the candidate should be able to pivot from news to newsletters and know how to prioritize assignments and manage time wisely.

This position will be covered by a collective-bargaining agreement between The New Republic and The NewsGuild of New York, CWA Local 31003, AFL-CIO. It is open to internal and external candidates.
Candidates should have at least three years of copy editing experience, preferably at a news website or magazine.
Candidates should have experience with basic fact checking.
Candidates should be able to manage TNR’s style book and design effective systems to update staff of both house and AP style changes.
